Back in August 2022 I was part of the Ship 30 for 30 cohort. It was great. However, I didn’t maintain my momentum. I have many ideas why and I’m going to parse them later. For now it occurs to me that I need to incorporate the practice of writing Atomic Essays to my Medium 101 project. Having that thought also led me to want to come up with a name for different sized pieces-of-writing. One thing that has me stalled on the Medium 101 project is that I said I’d write these long-for-me pieces of 1500 words.

FYI: I dislike overlap in things like this so I’m being precise in the list but in practice it’s all more flexible.
250 words = 1 page. Increasing my comfort level or whatever by an additional page seems like a step up. The science metaphor that starts with atomic ? can I maintain it as I need these levels? I don’t know. I was going to stop at 8 pages because 2000 words is enough for most things but I love a 9-patch so that’s where I stopped. < visual to come >
This will also give me an opportunity to think some more about the “form” – an essay is different from a blog post, and both are different from an article — or are they all the same? There’s so much slopping naming and language usage in the world!!
1 page = 250 words = atomic essay
2 pages = 251-500 words =
3 pages = 501-750 words =
4 pages = 751-1000 words =
5 pages = 1001-1250 words =
6 pages = 1250-1500 words =
7 pages = 1501-1750 words =
8 pages = 1751-2000 words =
9 pages = 2001-2250 words =
