Mini-Bio Gwendolyn L Kelly

Gwendolyn L Kelly is a self-employed workshop facilitator. Wow has covid put a halt to a lot of in-person, hands on, workshops! Some people disagree but Gwen is not a super big fan of creative workshops via Zoom and similar. She’s testing options though because sometimes the next best thing has to be enough.

Anyway, Gwen has a Master of Arts in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisville. Maybe, she’ll go back to school and get a degree in FinTech or data science or ?

Gwendolyn Kelly has served in a number of cultural institution roles.

She was …

… the Community Art and Conversations Curator for 1619 Flux: Art + Activism,
… the American Graduate Community Engagement Coordinator and Ready-to-Learn Coordinator for Kentucky Educational Television,
… the Director For Youth and Family Programs and earlier the Education Programs Evaluator for The Speed Art Museum.

Gwendolyn is a curious citizen who likes to learn and be of service. (She likes to be “Gwendolyn” in print but everyone calls her Gwen. Well, younger students often call her Ms. Gwen.) She’s seldom Gwendolyn L. Kelly but there are other fabulous women online with the same first and last name.

She has co-facilitated several Neighborhood Institutes for Center for Neighborhoods and previously served on the boards of Metro United Way, River City Housing, The West Louisville Women’s Coalition, and OneWest.

Gwendolyn L. Kelly is also a Power40210 Little Free Library steward and was named a Louisville Connector and West Louisville Connector by Leadership Louisville.

Between October 2005 and March 2020 Gwen had hosted a weekly open-to-the-community Jewelry Making studio sponsored by ArtsReach, a program of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. Jewelry Studio has been on an extended hiatus due to covid but it will return. Maybe, it’ll crop up on a vacant lot during the spring and summer of 2022.

Gwen has art for sale scattered around this site. Buy a piece for yourself or as a gift.
